The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center is reopening to the public July 28, 2026, and will resume its regular hours of operation Tuesday-Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. MST.
"Our mission has always been to preserve and share the story of the National Historic Trails and the people who traveled them," said Jessie Horn, Manager of the NHTIC. "We are looking forward to welcoming visitors, sharing these stories, and inspiring the next generation to connect with this history. We're grateful for our community's patience and can't wait to see everyone again."
All events scheduled at the Fort Caspar museum will continue to be held at that location.
"We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Fort Caspar for graciously hosting our summer programming over the past six weeks," said Horn. "Their generosity ensured the public did not miss out on our engaging speaker series and the opportunity to interact with our historical reenactors."
The 45-day closure was necessary to complete essential work and to ensure the safety of the public, staff, volunteers, and property. With the reopening, visitors can look forward to the remainder of the Center's summer programming and the same visitor experience they have come to expect and enjoy over the last 24 years.
The NHTIC is located at 1501 N. Poplar Street, Casper, Wyoming, and serves as a gateway to understanding the westward migration and the historic trails that shaped the American West, offering exhibits, educational programs, and resources for visitors of all ages.
