SALT LAKE CITY — The Bureau of Land Management today announced the extension of Public Land Order No. 7668, for an additional 20 years to protect critical water infrastructure associated with the Utah Lake Drainage Basin and Diamond Fork Systems of the Bonneville Unit of the Central Utah Project. The order continues the withdrawal of National Forest System lands from location and entry under the U.S. mining laws but not leasing under the mineral or geothermal leasing laws.
The withdrawal supports infrastructure managed by the Central Utah Project Completion Act Office that is essential for conveying water from Strawberry Reservoir to municipal, industrial and agricultural users in Utah County and along the Wasatch Front. The decision also incorporates updated land descriptions and a technical acreage correction, from 6,450 to approximately 6,559 acres affected, resulting from a comprehensive review of land records.
