ENNIS, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management Dillon Field Office will temporarily close Ennis Lake Road below Ennis Lake and above Madison Dam, for one or more days during the week of Aug. 3–7.
The closure is required to safely recover a private truck and trailer submerged in the Madison River. During the temporary closure, several public access points will be unavailable, including:
- Trail Creek Day Use Area and Trailhead
- Fall Creek Day Use Area (including parking and the kayak boat launch)
- Wilderness Boat Launch (located just above Bear Trap Canyon)
The recovery operation is being managed by a private contractor. The road and associated recreation sites will reopen to the public immediately upon the completion of the operation.
Please utilize alternative recreation access points along the Madison River During the closure. When Ennis Lake Road reopens, motorists traveling toward Madison Dam are reminded to always use extreme caution, adhere to posted speed limits, and anticipate oncoming traffic around blind corners.
