SOCORRO, N.M. – With increasing monsoonal moisture, resulting in reduced fire danger, the Bureau of Land Management Socorro Field Office plans to terminate Stage 1 fire restrictions within BLM-administered lands in Catron and Socorro counties, N.M. This action will rescind Fire Prevention Order #NMA02-26-01 and takes effect at 8 a.m. July 24.
“The BLM appreciates the public’s cooperation to help minimize the number of human-caused wildfires,” said U.S. Wildland Fire Service Deputy Unit Fire Chief Adrian Padilla.
Please be aware that BLM statewide Fire Prevention Order NM910-26-01 remains in effect. The order prohibits fireworks and other explosive devices on BLM lands throughout New Mexico. For more information, contact the BLM Socorro Field Office at 575-835-0412 or go to the BLM New Mexico Fire Restrictions website.
