The Bureau of Land Management has reopened Rim Campground in Natrona County effective July 16, 2026. The closure was a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.

While wildlife officials were hopeful, the bear was not able to be relocated. Animals fed by humans can lose their natural instincts to hunt or gather food, as well as become aggressive toward people. If you are visiting public lands or planning to use campground facilities, please help keep wildlife wild by keeping campsites clean, storing food in bear-proof lockers, throwing trash into secure bins, and never feeding animals.

For any questions, please reach out to the Casper Field Office at (307) 261-7600 or [email protected].

The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
