BATTLE MOUNTAIN, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management has opened a 30-day public comment period on proposed changes to parts of Nevada Gold Mine LLC's Cortez Mine in Eureka County. Nevada Gold Mines LLC has proposed expanding the Cortez Pit, creating the East and West Airport waste rock facilities, reducing the size of the approved Cortez Waste Rock facility, and modifying support infrastructure for Cortez Pit including haul roads, dewatering and monitoring wells. The project will produce up to 4 million tons of ore and 132 million tons of waste rock.
