BLM Kremmling Field Office Increases Fire Restrictions to Protect Local Communities

KREMMLING, Colorado — The Bureau of Land Management Kremmling Field Office will implement stage 2 fire restrictions because of elevated fire danger starting at 12:01 a.m. June 26. These restrictions apply to all BLM-administered public lands in Grand, Summit, and Eagle Counties that are within the boundaries of the field office. These restrictions will remain in effect until rescinded or amended.

Stage 2 Fire Restrictions

In addition to year‑round wildfire prevention rules and stage 1 restrictions, the following are prohibited :

  • Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire, charcoal grill, coal, wood burning stove or sheepherders stove. Devices using pressurized liquid, jellied petroleum, or gas are exempted.
  • Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle, trailer or building.
  • Operating a chainsaw without a spark arrester properly installed and working (must be USDA or SAE approved) with one round-point shovel (must be 36 inches or longer) and one chemical fire extinguisher (not less than 8 ounces capacity by weight) on site.
  • Welding or operating an acetylene or other torch with open flame.
  • Operating any internal combustion engine without a properly installed spark arresting device in good working order.
  • Using explosives, exploding targets.
