My name is Greg Poulin. I am a Part 107 license holder here in Maine. I am a videographer and a real estate media professional. Multiple of the higher end consumer photography drones are equipped with lidar for obstacle avoidance. Without these high quality consumer tools, I would have a hard time doing my job adequately as no US company makes an affordable drone with the same quality and capability. I understand the fear associated with these pieces of technology, I do, but to blatantly disregard the needs and uses of our countries small businesses is very disappointing to me. I am just a small fry, but what about all of the farmers that use LiDAR equipped spray drones? Without these parts, our farmers will suffer, our existing businesses that use these things for mapping and inspections will suffer, many of our industries will suffer as the USA attempts (and attempt is the word I absolutely meant to use) to make a quality product for an affordable price. Please consider the small businesses that you will destroy with these measures. My proposal is that you just background check people that wish to purchase the drones with these capabilities as we do firearms. Please think of small interest, and not only your politician friends interests.
