Summary: The commenter argues that autonomous vehicles should be required to have a physical emergency brake that completely stops the vehicle and unlocks all doors. They suggest that deregulating safety features in these vehicles will negatively impact public opinion and hurt the businesses involved.
For autonomous vehicles like this, it makes sense for no steering wheel or any of the usual elements of a car that humans would use, but these vehicles should still contain an emergency break, not a button to press for the computer to slow the car to a stop, a full on emergency break, this break should be labeled for emergencies and completely stop the car, unlock all doors, and shut down the car completely. The public opinion on autonomous vehicles is already very negative, the deregulation of safety features in these vehicles will only make public opinion worse which, in turn, hurts these businesses.
