Summary: The commenter expresses concern over the safety and liability of autonomous vehicles that lack manual overrides. They argue that manufacturers should face stricter accountability, including potential criminal charges, if software or hardware failures lead to accidents or loss of life.
I find it dangerous and negligent to have a vehicle on the road that has not been sufficiently vetted and has had known issues in certain situations with no way to manually override it by a human being. In this case if there is an accident and either the hardware or the software are shown to be liable then the manufacturer would need to accept culpability including criminal charges like manslaughter. If in that moment lives are lost because you are taking the autonomy of the passengers out of their hands then there MUST be greater accountability on the part of those people to whom you are trudting their safety!
