I’d like to comment on the idiotic idea called the Mid States Corridor. I just can’t believe it has gotten to the point it has after there was already money approved for renovating the current Highway 231. That is the smart idea anyways . Repaving, widening it a little, and a couple passing lanes is all that is needed and would cost so much less. Granted there would still have to be some land purchased the amount would be far less significant that a whole new not needed road. The next thing is all the road & bridge inspection, repair, or replacement projects that was canceled due to lack of funding that was moved to further fund the Mid States Corridor. I don’t see how that should have been allowed to happen or legal. Just think about everyone’s families , friends, and kids that are on those roads and bridges whose lives are now in danger because they can’t have the inspections and repairs that they need. If this new road gets build, where are are all the families going to go when they are forced off their land? Especially the farmers. There already isn’t enough land to go around. Acres of land is already sky high due in this area due to the Amish paying outrageous amounts for it, developers wanting it to build houses, business, and now have to worry about these stupid AI data centers & solar farms. What about the condition of the current roads in Indiana? The southern part of I-69 has had road construction at some point of it ever since it was opened. The last time I was on the northern part of I-69 I thought I was driving on a huge cheese grater it was so rough. I-70 is rough, full of pot holes, and extremely dangerous. Has been for years. Why not spend the money the state and federal government has on current roads instead of going into deeper dept again from building another road? There won’t be much drive time savings. There is I-69 and I-65 that hours from the north to the south and vice-versa. There is no need for a multi-lane road in the center of the state. Especially whenever it will do so much damage to the beauty of our state, displace so many families & farms from their land, obviously cost so much money that the state doesn’t have, take away business in some of the towns (like Logottee for example), and still not fix supposed traffic issues at Jasper and Huntingburg. The main point to my comment is No Mid-States Corridor!
