This is a project that absolutely must proceed. The economic impact of this project will be crucial for Dubois County to continue to be strong. In the last 60 days, we've lost over 450 jobs. There has been no noise as to the job loss and the only reason is these jobs were absorbed; however, there is no absorption opportunity remaining. Without the necessary infrastructure, such as the Mid-State Corridor, there will be no economic growth in Dubois County and there will continue to be job loss. The cost of transportation will make it so no new manufacturing will ever be started in this area. It is perfectly situated in the United States to be a hub for manufacturing/distribution. The arguments against the corridor will be very limiting to the vibrancy of the area. We need to progress this project to also support the economic boom around Crane. Dubois County is perfectly situated to take advantage of that opportunity as well. I've been asked why I don't outwardly support the corridor and be more vocal. The answer is simple.....by doing so, I would be publicly attacked and I do not want that for myself, my employer or my family. While I understand the argument about people losing land, it is the way the huge infrastructure in this country has been built. In addition, the "dossier" that has been circulated is an absolute National Enquirer as to this project. I do find it interesting that the group responsible for this does not want it released to the general public. I'm looking at this opportunity as the future for my kids and grandkids and generations beyond. Without it, the long term viability of Dubois County will be in jeopardy. We need to be forward looking at not think that just because this area has been successful that it always will be. The growth opportunities are competitive and without something like the Mid-States Corridor we will not be given any consideration. With it, I feel it will open up opportunities for new growth as well as maintain the quality employers we have now.
