Summary: A local resident opposes the project, arguing that the $3.4 billion in taxpayer funds should be reallocated to repair existing roads and bridges across Indiana. The commenter notes that the majority of residents in their community do not want the new road and suggests that improving current infrastructure would be more beneficial.
I’m concerned that over 400 other safety-related road and bridge projects throughout the State of Indiana were canceled or indefinitely postponed due to lack of funds. But we are using 3.4 billion tax payer dollars on a road that over 80% of the residents in our community don’t want according to recent polls. I don’t know if the money can be reallocated to other projects across Indiana but I know there are plenty of communities that would more greatly benefit from their roads being fixed over one more road going to Indianapolis. Why not improve upon and care for what we have? I know Indiana is the crossroads of America but do we really need one more?
