Summary: An individual commenter is requesting an extension on the requirement for regional airlines to install secondary barrier screens on ERJ 170/175 aircraft. They argue that the current screen installation time poses a safety risk and that the manufacturer is currently seeking certification for a faster-deploying slide door.
Please help the regional airlines in that the ERJ 170/175 is being asked to install a secondary barrier screen that takes 2 FA to put up that takes 6 min to install and then blocks us from the main cabin. If for some reason there is an emergency in the main cabin while the pilot in in the lavatory this presents a high safety issue. I do not feel safer with this screen. I think it is problematic and will cause issue with the pilots being let out to use the lavatory. Please lobby for an extension. Embraer is trying to get the slide door like Airbus that only takes 6 seconds instead of 6 min to deploy. They are trying to get FAA certification right now. Please help!! Lobby for an extension. Thank you
