I fully support improving cockpit security. However, on the ERJ aircraft, the forward galley is already extremely tight. Adding a secondary barrier will further restrict movement for flight attendants during not only normal operations but most importantly, in emergencies. I encourage the FAA to evaluate how the barrier affects emergency evacuations, rapid access to the flight deck during pilot medical emergencies, crew movement during turbulence, and the ability to safely perform required duties in the limited space available on the ERJ. Any approved design, like a simpler door that takes seconds instead of minutes, should maintain security without creating additional safety hazards or delaying emergency response.
