Our communities here in WI depend on safe drinking water, and I am asking the EPA to investigate whether mifepristone and related compounds are entering waterways. The EPA already tracks many emerging contaminants, and abortion pill chemicals deserve the same serious review as other substances that may affect human health or the environment. That is exactly why the EPA should study whether residues in wastewater create broader risks. Communities like mine should not be left in the dark about what may be entering local water systems.
