Our communities depend on safe drinking water, and I am asking the EPA to investigate whether mifepristone and related compounds are entering waterways. The agency should add the active components of mifepristone, including generic equivalents and metabolites such as monodemethylated, didemethylated, and hydroxylated metabolites, to the contaminants list for monitoring. That is exactly why the EPA should study whether residues in wastewater create broader risks. As a taxpayer, I expect federal agencies to protect families before a preventable water-quality problem grows larger. I respectfully ask you to prioritize this matter and protect our water supply.
