Everyone in this country deserves access to healthcare, as it is a basic human right. Taking away Medicaid from people with disabilities will have devastating consequences for many of our most vulnerable citizens. This country should prioritize ensuring that its citizens, including people with disabilities have access to adequate healthcare. One aspect that stands out to me is the stricter eligibility verification, and work requirements. Many individuals receiving Medicaid have chronic illnesses, disabilities, and other circumstances that limit their ability to work. Additionally, people with disabilities disproportionately experience high rates of unemployment due to many barriers such as discrimination, limited workplace accommodations, and transportation challenges.
As someone who works in healthcare, I believe healthcare policies should prioritize improving health outcomes, while ensuring that our populations are not disproportionately affected.
