Summary: A parent of a disabled individual with gastroparesis opposes the proposed Medicare decision to stop covering idiopathic gastroparesis. The commenter argues that this decision will jeopardize their daughter's life and calls for the agency to provide medical care for those diagnosed by their doctors.
My child, Sabrina Liechty is on medicare because she is disabled with gastroparesis. Medicare has decided they don’t want to cover idiopathic gastroparesis anymore (CMS-1498-P). This decision must be stopped in its tracks and reversed. Not only will my daughter’s life be at stake, but so will many more. I am afraid this will cause an endless spiraling affect,. Who are they to say my daughter is not worthy of medical care? They are going to refuse her treatment and the next thing you know, more and more diseases and conditions will be added to the list. If her doctor says she is sick and needs medical care, they should provide it. Please contact CMS and let them know we will not stand for this type of treatment to fellow Americans. We have got to increase the awareness of this disease. Please Help us and Thank You.
