Summary: A family member of a veteran supports the VA's efforts to simplify disability compensation forms to make the claims process more accessible. The commenter requests that the VA use plain language, minimize paperwork, and provide consistent guidance to reduce confusion for veterans.
As someone who is a family member of a veteran, I strongly support the VA's effort to simplify disability compensation forms. Reducing unnecessary complexity will make the claims process more accessible and less intimidating for veterans and their families. I respectfully encourage the VA to ensure that any revised forms and instructions are written in plain language, clearly explain what information is required, and minimize unnecessary paperwork whenever possible. Many veterans already face significant challenges navigating the claims process, and simplifying these forms can help reduce delays, confusion, and errors. I respectfully encourage the VA to provide clear, consistent guidance on the use of these forms so that veterans receive the same information and direction regardless of who they speak with or where they seek assistance. Consistent guidance will help reduce confusion, improve the claims process, and ensure veterans can confidently complete and submit the required forms. Thank you for considering the voices of veterans during this rulemaking process and for continuing to improve access to the benefits we have earned.
