I oppose the implementation of fees as described in this proposed rule. Asylum seekers are fleeing persecution, often with few resoures to their name. Increasing fees and implementing harsh penalties simply makes our immigration systems pay-to-play. Most immigrants try to navigate the system, but the system places barriers designed to marginalize and demonize people who are most in need of safety.
