I respectfully urge USCIS and DHS to reconsider this proposed rule. I came to the United States through the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program and have always followed all immigration rules. I applied for re-parole and employment authorization in October 2024. My re-parole was not approved until April 2026. Now, in July 2026, I am still waiting for my Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Because of these delays, I have spent many months unable to work legally, despite doing everything required by the government. I want to work, support myself, pay taxes, and contribute to my community. Instead, I have been forced to wait because of processing delays that are completely outside of my control. This proposed rule would make an already difficult situation even worse for people who are legally present in the United States and simply want the opportunity to work while their immigration status remains valid. The current processing times for re-parole and employment authorization are already extremely long. Before restricting employment authorization, USCIS should first ensure that applications are processed in a timely manner. People should not lose the ability to support themselves because of government delays. Please consider the real impact on families like mine. We came to the United States legally, complied with every requirement, and only ask for the opportunity to work lawfully while waiting for our applications to be processed. I have now been waiting for employment authorization for more than 21 months since filing my application, despite having valid re-parole status. Thank you for considering my comment.
