I’m a concerned citizen who values evidence-based research and transparency in government. I’m especially concerned about the proposed changes to Section 200.205, which would allow political appointees to override peer-reviewed grant recommendations without requiring a public explanation. Peer review should remain the standard for evaluating research, and removing that safeguard could undermine trust in the grant process and the quality of federally funded research. I respectfully ask OMB to withdraw this proposed rule.
