Politically appointed representatives deciding who or if a grant is awarded will ultimately cause a bias in what gets researched according to the lead political party.
Making the change suggested here would be destroying the point of scientific research: finding the truth and using the knowledge to further our understanding of our world and help our people.
If this change goes through, it will leave lots of leeway for the lead political party to only allow science to research topics that push the agenda or narrative that they want instead of learning the truth.
Further more, this proposal with have science done in bad faith as any scientific result or conclusion that doesn’t match or support the agenda will have the federal grant taken away.
This should not be passed.
Let scientists decide what science gets done.
