Summary: The commenter opposes the regulation, arguing that it violates Constitutional rights and allows the government to restrict scientific research and funding based on political disagreements. They characterize the action as a power grab that will hamper scientific progress and undermine public institutions.
Not only is this regulation a direct attack on our Constitutional rights as Americans, but it will also allow the government to restrict any topic they disagree with, putting officials who have no background in the topic in charge of deciding funding for scientific discoveries, greatly hampering the scientific progress of the US. It will allow the government to control what gets researched and whether researchers are allowed to share their discoveries, as well as undermine how public institutions are run. This is nothing more than a Russell Vought power grab, so he and Trump can reward their patrons while restricting access to those they disagree with. This is not how our federal government should operate.
