,My name is Greg Burns and I'm an assistant lecturer at the University of Southern California. My comment is in firm opposition to changes in the OMB's oversight of federal research grants and funding, specifically sections 200.205, 200.340. These changes are a direct threat to free speech and the continued advancements that are made in research institutions across the country. These changes would put oversight of a dramatic array of research in the hands of a few who intend to politicize and weaponize life-saving and innovative research. U.S. research universities are the envy of the rest of the world and people travel from far and wide to contribute to incredible research here in the U.S. these changes would threaten the international collaboration that has made US research institutions world class innovators and leaders in science and tech (to say nothing of all the other types of important research done in the humanities). These changes threaten American lives, jobs and institutional credibility and should be stopped by any means necessary. [ ]
