ZACHARY SMITHOpposeAcademic
Summary: Zachary Smith, representing an academic affiliation at maine.edu, opposes the proposed regulations, arguing they impose a political agenda on science, threaten research funding, and silence dissent. The commenter expresses concern that the changes will hinder scientific growth, harm environmental protection, and jeopardize important research projects.
,Section 200.205: Removes proper educated authorities from determining ligitimate science and instead imposes a political agenda (Trump's) upon what is considered truth (or valid pursuit) in science. A classic totalitarian move.Section 200.340-42: Convieniently forces "project goals" to avoid topics that make Trump personally uncomfortable, instead of prioritizing the country's wellfare. This is a personal attack on the LGTBQ+ community as well as civil rights for women and minorities. One reason for this is so that he and his "friends" might avoid further prosecution for their obvious transgressions.Section 200.206: Further personal attacks on scientists, environmental protection, and civil rights. How anyone can support this boggles the mind. Environmental protection is keeping our children and grandchildren safe and provided with clean air, water, and food in the future. The Trump administration is trashing our home and lives because he is only interested in money presently (petrol), and I doubt he even understands how he is sacrificing the health of the entire world and country (uneducated as he is). Apparently, the american people want pollution and dirty, poisoned drinking water.Section 200.461: A further hinderance of growth and knowledge in the country, and in science around the world. The funding for science compared to the military or other departments is so tiny that this section is clearly a personal vendetta, since the proposed denial of funds affects so little of anything else that there is no valid arguement for the reallocation of funds. Science needs encouragement for any country to support its military, economy, technology, and education.Section 200.43: Again, a hinderance of communication and growth in science.Section 200.450: A blatant gag to silence dissent or anything that Trump's fragile ego cannot hear without another tantrum. Science is about finding truth, regardless of opinion or political influence. Politics has no place in editing, tampering with, or witholding evidence or a scientists official conclusions based on official results.Section 200.220 & Section 200.202(e): A clear political agenda that alienates and isolates this country from every other. Trump is imposing his extreme racism and nationalism into the study of the natural world, where objective and open communication throughout the world is necessary. Trump has severely crippled foreign affairs and our trade economy is already crashing like his previously sunken businesses. Trump's little success is solely based on the stupidity of the common USA citizen, which is not sustainable as a policy for this country. He is causing the world war that would be necessary to make the isolation of this county make any sense. Finally: Trump, like any corrupt person in power, hates education because an uneducated population is easier to rule and fool. Trump also hates the truth because he is hiding criminal activity, is hiding his stupidity, and is lying about his successes. A typical psychological defense of such narcissists is to belittle others, shifting the focus (DARVO). His tantrums are now affecting everyone's funding for research and technological development in the entire country all because he refuses to accept reality. Now I, and my colleagues, are threatened with being forced to shut down our very important projects entirely (or lie about our findings, which is worse in my opinion). Some of us develop technology to help keep people alive (like soldiers on the front lines). Others develop technology to prevent the spread of sickness (yes, vaccines work, and the only acceptable exceptions are those with egg allergies and similar issues). We should not bring back Polio for some stupid popaganda.ZACHARY SMITH zachary.r.smith1@maine.edu [ ]
