Comments are in reference to rule “OMB-2026-0034, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance.”
It is the government’s absolute responsibility to ensure the safety and dignity of people in its custody. 200,000 people are sexually abused in detention every year, and they are just as deserving of support services as anyone else. By targeting people who are LGBTQ, people with disabilities, people who are immigrants and people of color, the new rule would make it impossible for nonprofits that are fighting to end prisoner rape to do the vital work of supporting survivors behind bars.
