Summary: A Professor of Pathology, Emeritus at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, opposes the proposed change to regulation 200.202. The commenter argues that aligning research funding with administration policies rather than scientific importance could waste taxpayer funds on political priorities and damage US research.
Comment on 200.202 I am a Professor of Pathology, Emeritus at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I have performed research for over 30 years on breast and head and neck cancer, receiving grants, publishing papers, training many graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The proposed change to 200.202 has the potential to severely damage US research and prosperity because proposal 1 iii) align with administration policies and priorities, has the potential to waste taxpayer funds on political pork, and not scientific importance or quality. Proposed section 1 (iii) of 200.202 should be retracted.
