Summary: Andrea Hoandreahohoho, a PhD candidate in History at Yale University, opposes the proposed regulation because she believes it threatens independent and vigorous research. She argues that the change could lead to political appointees reducing the chances of funding for high-quality humanities projects that serve public interest goals.
The Office of Management and Budget ,My name is Andrea and I’m a PhD candidate in History at Yale University. Funding for the humanities has drastically decreased in the last five years, but many of our projects rely on this external funding to support public interest goals. It is essential that we have independent grant administrator and reviewers who have the experience and qualifications to carefully review applications. Many of us spend 5 or 6 years of our lives hoping for a chance to do important research work. Political appointees dramatically reduce the chances of good, thorough, and vigorous research applications being approved. I work on the criminal justice system and rely on external grants to fund my work. This proposed legislation threatens independent and vigorous research. I strongly oppose this change.Andrea Hoandreahohoho07@gmail.comNew Haven, Connecticut 06511
