Summary: A Policy Data Analyst at 211 San Diego, an information and referral organization, opposes the proposed regulations. The commenter argues that the provisions will reduce the number of programs supporting marginalized communities and lack clear definitions for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
I am a Policy Data Analyst at 211 San Diego, an information and referral organization that helps connect community members to health and social services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, during calm times and crisis. I am writing to oppose §200.300, §200.218, and §200.340, which will result in fewer programs and organizations to support community members who have been and continue to be harmed by selective investments (or lack of investments) to build their neighborhoods and support their communities. These provisions, with no definitions for what constitutes diversity, equity and inclusion or disparate impacts, as well as the risk of uncontestable funding terminations, are un-American and fail to provide everyone with fair and equal opportunities to achieve the American dream. I strongly urge OMB to not finalize this rule.
