As an academic researcher, I condemn, in the strongest possible language, the proposed OMB "Regulations for Federal Financial Assistance" rules. In particular, the approval of scientific grants must NOT be done by political appointees, as this compromises neutrality, scientific integrity, and research quality. This country cannot allow partisan decisions to dictate the future of public health research. Keep science unbiased, keep science free of political influence - and keep science independent from government.
