I am deeply disturbed to read this proposal, NSF-2026-OTR-000, as it seeks to perpetuate the Trump administration’s attacks on science, one of which was the idiotic firing of the entire National Science Board which oversaw NSF and led it to years of international acclaim before Trump came into office. Trump clearly seeks to destroy science in America because science and scientists have achieved far more than he ever will. His demented narcissistic ego apparently can’t handle that fact. The public knows that thoroughly peer-reviewed, long-term, government-funded scientific research is gold standard, not a glance by irreverent politicians who bought their Ivy League basketweaving degrees instead of working hard to achieve a PhD in cancer research, etc.
I ask that the entire rule NOT be finalized, and the neophytes who proposed this blasphemous rule be fired.
