Summary: A private citizen expresses strong support for maintaining public research funding, arguing that it is essential for the education and healthcare systems. The commenter emphasizes that the proposed actions could harm the public's ability to access important information.
The pursuit of knowledge is sacred to mankind. As a citizen, not a scientist, I can testify that public research is incredibly important to the average person's every day life. This does not only affect people individually, it poses a genuine risk to the education system and the U.S. Healthcare System. The topics at risk of losing funding are completely mundane and harmless, many of which are already under-funded and under-researched. Myself and many others would argue that the real harm would be taking away our ability to access this information. To be 18 and asking that the funding to necessary research is not taken away is a disgrace.
