Summary: An individual commenter opposes the proposal to increase the vehicle limit on the restricted section of the Denali Park Road. They argue that allowing more traffic will degrade the park's wilderness quality and negatively impact the experience for visitors and wildlife.
I oppose the National Park Service (NPS) proposal to amend special regulations for Denali National Park and Preserve to clarify the number of vehicles that can travel on the restricted section (miles 15-90) of the Denali Park Road in accordance with a Vehicle Management Plan to 160 vehicle-per-day limit . Even though this represents the “maximum level” of vehicle use that could be supported, I believe it will degrade the quality of the park. Denali National Park is a special place, still “wild” and more traffic has the potential to ruin the experience for those visiting the park and the wildlife that call it home.
Please do not upgrade the plan to allow the additional vehicles per day.
