To better connect local communities with the sanctuary, it could be a great idea to bring back citizen science monitoring volunteer opportunities rather than just giving community members the ability to voice their concerns and the only volunteer option to staff the Olympic Coast Discovery Center. Not only could this help foster local connection and bring more awareness to the sanctuary, but it would help provide the public with a way to actually physically visit and engage with the sanctuary!
