Summary: The commenter supports the merger because the current HEMA Federal Credit Union lacks modern online banking services that the merging entity provides. While they express some concerns regarding the reputation of the PAHO/WHO organization, they ultimately favor the merger for its financial strength and the opportunity for rebranding.
I am supportive of this merger, in general, as HEMA is way behind the times. I don't understand why this bank hasn't added online banking or other services. I have had good loan rates with them, but the inability to check my balance whenever I want and set up a payment online is absurd. I see that this credit union merging with HEMA does offer these services and so that makes sense.
I am concerned about this other credit union though. They don't have much of an online presence that I can see and what is there is pretty basic. I had to look up what the name meant because I have never heard of this organization nor do I know how to pronounce it. In reading about the PAHO/WHO itself, I have seen a lot of negative news coverage. I am concerned that this new credit union may be bogged down with the issues of the Cuban Doctor situation in the news. That said, I appreciate the credit union offering to rebrand as part of this merger as I think it may be a new start for the combined organization. I do like that they are financially strong.
