Summary: A licensed mental health counselor opposes the proposed rule, arguing that it is superfluous and does not address the primary need for housing assistance. The commenter suggests that the rule endangers vulnerable populations and calls for legislation that supports all Americans in obtaining safe housing instead.
As a licensed mental health counselor, I have learned that PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE. Of course, their gender matters to them; however, it should not matter when a person needs housing. This proposed rule is superfluous. The need is clear; more and more Americans need housing assistance. This rule does nothing but endanger some of the most vulnerable among us. I urge you to reject this purposeless rule and instead, craft legislation that supports ALL Americans in having a safe place to sleep every night. Thank you.
