Summary: An individual who uses 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) to manage chronic physical pain argues against the proposed scheduling. They contend that restricting access to the substance will force patients to seek illegal alternatives, potentially increasing the risk of fentanyl overdoses.
About a year ago I discovered that at 60 mg of 7-OH per day (30 am and 30 pm) I am able to manage the physical pain that has plagued me for the last 5 years. I carefully researched various OTC products and distributors and selected a product (7-oh) and company that is safe and effective. I follow the instructions provided by the company. I attest to my age and full understanding of any possible risk via the informed consent process during purchase.
Being able to manage my pain allows me to be an active and contributing member of society. I maintain a regular, high level job without issue, a privilege that was at-risk before researching and discovering this product.
Please keep this product legal and affordable, at doses that work for each individual, allowing patients to live full lives with reduced pain and reduced reliance on prescribed pain medications. A gap in access or a meaningless limit on available milligrams will mean thousands of people may need to seek illegal drugs or illegal access to black market pharmaceuticals to help them manage their pain. This will lead to an increased risk of fentanyl overdoses by illicit drug use.
Please do not ban 7-OH and the kratom derived products that help many of us lead full lives with the ability to contribute to society.
