Summary: The commenter supports listing the Yellowstone Bison as an endangered species due to threats from its small range and culling practices. They also advocate for a population viability study and the expansion of the herd's range to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
I am writing to support listing the American Bison as an endangered species in the United States. The Yellowstone Bison is the last free-ranging herd with wild heritage, and it is constantly under threat with its small range, culling, without sufficient safeguards to secure the herd genetic diversity. Also sorely needed is a population viability study for this population. The range of the herd should be expanded to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which needs to be preserved as an intact ecosystem for all the large mammals that it contains to have sufficient living and roaming space.
