I am writing as a physician and public health advocate who strongly supports full protection for our endangered Buffalo calves in Yellowstone, Montana. At this time, I strongly urge you, both, as the Montana state governor and the Director of Transportation in Montana to please direct that the state of Montana earmark transportation funding to be specifically used for the construction of safe wildlife passage corridors or infrastructure to ensure safe wildlife passage either over, along or under US Highway 191/287, in the Hebgen Basin, west of Yellowstone National Park.
At this time, I thank you for your consideration of my letter and my recommendations. To ensure the ability for wild buffalo in Montana, to safely migrate to their calving grounds, I strongly urge you, both, to please secure and earmark the funding necessary and begin to implement safe passage infrastructure in this critical wildlife migration corridor. You never know, but the life you save may be the one you love.
It is very important for you both, to please initiate contact with the Buffalo Field Campaign to learn more about how wild buffalo are using this corridor in Montana and work with them to determine the best placement for safe passage over- and underpasses. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,
Jean Marie Naples, MD-Ph.D.
Suffern, NY 10901-4250
Jeannaples7@gmail.com
