Summary: Jaedin Medicine Elk, a Northern Cheyenne tribal member, submits comments in support of listing the Yellowstone bison under the Endangered Species Act, incorporating the official position of Roam Free Nation. The commenter argues that the current Interagency Bison Management Plan (IBMP) is failing to protect the herds from threats like hunting, habitat loss, and disease, and that federal protection is necessary to prevent their extinction.
Dear U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service,

My name is Jaedin Medicine Elk. I am a Northern Cheyenne tribal member who comes from a very traditional buffalo culture family. The buffalo mean everything to us. The way they are being senselessly killed is placing these herds in great danger, and threatens them with extinction.

Thank you so much for conducting a status review to determine if the wild buffalo of Yellowstone warrant Endangered Species Act protection. These sacred buffalo currently have no protections at all, though they badly need them. I trust you will find there is plenty of evidence that warrants them being listed under the Endangered Species Act.

In addition to these brief comments, I would like to incorporate the official comments from Roam Free Nation into my own, which were submitted to you last night and are attached here. Thank you so much for the opportunity to comment on this very important issue.

Thank you,
Jaedin Medicine Elk
