Summary: The commenter argues that bison are currently restricted to a small area for political reasons and should be listed under the Endangered Species Act. They emphasize the ecological and cultural importance of bison and advocate for providing them with more space to roam as a wild species.
The science is clear and concise: Bison (American buffalo) are greatly restricted in their range and are artificially held in the relatively small area of Yellowstone National Park for political reasons. There is a great abundance of evidence of the importance of bison on the landscape both ecologically and culturally. It is about time to put bison on the ESA and give them the space to roam to function like an actual wildlife species and to not be managed for hate and intolerance like is currently the case.
