Summary: An individual who works with animals expresses support for the proposed critical habitat protections under the Endangered Species Act. They argue that robust protections are essential for species survival and warn that prioritizing development over environmental health leads to irreversible ecosystem decline.
I’m submitting this as someone who works closely with animals and cares deeply about their safety and the environments they depend on. I support strong, science-based critical habitat protections under the Endangered Species Act. Habitat is essential to species survival, and weakening these protections puts already vulnerable wildlife at greater risk while contributing to long-term ecosystem decline. I’m concerned about any approach that limits habitat protections or prioritizes development over long-term environmental health. Once habitat is lost, it is extremely difficult to restore, and the impacts can be lasting. I encourage maintaining robust critical habitat protections and fully considering long-term impacts in decision-making. This issue matters to me, and while it can feel like individual voices don’t make a difference, speaking up is one of the only ways we can try to protect wildlife and the environments they depend on.
