I strongly oppose any revision to part 610 wilderness review that would weaken protection for Wilderness Study Areas, lands with wilderness characteristics, recommended wilderness, and existing Wilderness. As an older person, I’ve enjoyed wild places for decades. Older folks like me see these places as a legacy that we pass to future generations. This policy and others ensure that the Wilderness Act and the statutes governing these lands are fully implemented. The agency has offered no justification for reversing decades of policies that have benefitted families like mine. I ask that the existing standards be preserved in full, without lowering the standard of care for these lands in any way, so that our wild lands will be protected as they have been.
