Summary: A private citizen from Colorado opposes the proposal, arguing that it removes public oversight and democratic input regarding forest management. The commenter emphasizes the importance of public participation in environmental policy to protect natural resources for future generations.
Of the people, By the people, For the People - Abraham Lincoln This quote was not followed by "But don't let the people have any say in or oversight of policies". That second part was not part of President Lincoln's speech because it directly opposes the part that was in his speech! So does this law, which aims to remove even more of the people's already limited say in government policies. I am heavily connected to many forests in this country, especially Coloradan forests. I grew up in Colorado and love all sorts of nature, but I have a special love for the mountains and the forests covering then. It would be extremely important for me to have a say in policies related to the forests and what we do to them considering my childhood and the interest I and fellow Coloradans have in them. Not to mention the future generations that will hopefully experience them in not only the same conditions, but even better conditions. I believe removing my say and the say of likely tens to hundreds of millions of others that also care for nature and the forests would be a disgrace to the spirit of the United States of America. Please withdraw this proposal and keep policy changes open to the peoples comments.
