Summary: A private citizen who uses public lands for recreation argues that the Forest Service must maintain robust public comment opportunities. They believe this process is essential to ensure conservation decisions are based on science and public benefit rather than the interests of for-profit companies or political donors.
As a citizen of the United States, I use and enjoy our public lands, including those of the Forest Service, for hiking, biking and photography. Given the Forest Service’s history of making decisions that benefit only a few for-profit companies, it is crucial to keep a robust comment opportunity for the public to ensure decisions move towards science-driven conservation goals that benefit the most citizens of our country rather than political donors and parties. Please retain statutory notice and comment processes.
