Summary: Dee, a patient, shares a positive personal experience with Tavneos (avacopan), stating that the medication has helped them achieve remission with minimal side effects. They argue against the withdrawal of the drug's approval by highlighting its effectiveness as a steroid-sparing treatment and its success in managing their condition.
My Experience with Tavneos (avacopan): I wanted to share my experience with avacopan.Since I began taking avacopan, my condition has been steadily improving, and I am incredibly grateful to say that I am now moving into remission. For me, the biggest win has been how smooth the process has been—I have had absolutely no issues or major side effects from the drug so far. Because avacopan acts as a targeted treatment (blocking the C5a receptor to stop the immune system from attacking the blood vessels), it is known for being a great "steroid-sparing" option. It helps control the disease without having to rely so heavily on high-dose prednisone, which comes with so many tough side effects. I have been able to taper my prednisone very quickly. I know one of the key safety guidelines with this medication is keeping an eye on liver health. I have my liver function tested monthly, and thankfully, my lab results have remained completely stable and healthy. Finding something that actually works to calm the inflammation and get the disease under control—without making me feel miserable in the process—has been a game-changer. It has truly done what it was supposed to do for me. Thanks! - Dee
