Summary: The Informed Consent Action Network, represented by Siri & Glimstad LLP, supports the proposed action. They argue that a new study on rodent models provides biologically plausible evidence of developmental neurotoxicity from in utero acetaminophen exposure, justifying a precautionary warning during pregnancy.
This newly published study, “Vestibular brainstem impairment following in utero exposure to high dose paracetamol” (Graeca et al., 2026), demonstrates that in utero exposure to acetaminophen produced measurable structural and functional impairment of the developing brainstem, including significant neuron loss and sensorimotor deficits, even in the absence of overt growth abnormalities. While derived from a rodent model, these findings provide biologically plausible evidence of developmental neurotoxicity and further support the application of a precautionary warning during pregnancy.
