Summary: A pediatrician and the Catholic Medical Association (CMA) oppose the petition to loosen safety regulations for mifepristone. I am a pediatrician in Indiana that works for Marian University Tom and Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine. As someone concerned about the safety of all patients, I am opposed to all petitions to loosen safety regulations for mifepristone. There is enough recent evidence to confirm that mifepristone is not safe and harmful for women, children, and families; and the FDA should tighten safety regulations, not weaken them. I strongly oppose the requested changes to mifepristone’s REMS and EASU oversight based on two primary concerns: 1. Reliance on Inadequate and Biased Data; 2.
